“why did they choose me?”

Reacting to the news , Michael Eavis said that he was left stunned that he would be receiving this knighthood.

“Emily came up with the official letter. I was really surprised to see it, actually. Why did they choose me I wonder?”, Eavis said.

Speaking about Glastonbury’s success over the years, Eavis added, “We started with 500 people in 1970 and we’ve finished up with millions wanting to come every year now. That’s quite extraordinary isn’t it?”.

The upcoming knighthood ceremony, is one that Michael Eavis is certainly looking forward to with immense excitement.

“Last time I met him [King Charles], I got a suit especially. And he said, ‘Why aren’t you wearing your shorts?’ But I think William might do the ceremony. He’s made a few mentions of wanting to come to the festival. So I’ll probably take a couple of tickets in my pocket!”, the Glastonbury boss commented.

It was confirmed that 2023 saw Glastonbury make payments of over £3.7 million to various charity campaigns and causes. More on this from Nova here.

As for next year’s festival, tickets for Glastonbury 2024 sold out in under an hour, due to unprecedented demand, organisers have confirmed. More on that here.
