Global Covid-19 Death Toll Reaches One Million

Since the first-known case of Covid-19 emerged at a Wuhan wet market in December 2019, the world’s death toll has now reached one million.

More than 33 million people have been infected with coronavirus since the pandemic began.

The tally by Johns Hopkins University shows that deaths in the US, Brazil and India make up nearly half that total.

Last night Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn warned there will be no “going back to normal” after the current surge in cases has been handled.
