Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he is in talks to bring Hell's Kitchen UK back to television almost two decades after the programme last aired in Britain.

The celebrity chef confirmed discussions are taking place with ITV to revive the reality cooking competition, which first launched in the UK in 2004 before becoming a global phenomenon.

Speaking about the plans, Ramsay said: "I can tell you exclusively, I think we're gonna come back to the UK with Hell's Kitchen live next year."

He added: "And it's about time because everywhere I go across the UK it's 'please bring it back'. So we're talking now with ITV to bring it back. And fingers crossed we'll have something exciting to keep you updated on."

Reflecting on the show's origins, Ramsay said: "We've just finished Hell's Kitchen [US] season 25 – ITV gave birth to this thing twenty years ago when we went live."

Hell's Kitchen UK debuted on ITV in 2004, with Ramsay fronting the first series.

The programme combined celebrity contestants with the intense pressures of running a professional kitchen and quickly became one of the broadcaster's biggest reality hits of the era.

After Ramsay's departure, the series continued with chefs including Gary Rhodes, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Marco Pierre White taking over hosting duties. The UK version ultimately ran until 2009 before being shelved.

While the British series came to an end, Ramsay took the format across the Atlantic in 2005, launching Hell's Kitchen US.

The American version has gone on to become one of the longest-running and most successful cooking competition shows on television, with Ramsay serving as host and executive producer for 25 seasons.

A potential revival would mark the first UK version of the show in nearly 20 years and would tap into the growing appetite for nostalgia-driven reboots, with several classic entertainment formats returning to screens in recent years.

The news comes during a busy period for Ramsay. Earlier this year, viewers were given a behind-the-scenes look at his personal and professional life in the Netflix docuseries Being Gordon Ramsay.

The six-part series followed the chef as he prepared to launch five new dining concepts inside 22 Bishopsgate, London's second-tallest building, while also balancing family life with his wife Tana Ramsay and their six children.

Although no official commission has yet been announced, Ramsay's comments suggest discussions are progressing, raising the prospect that Hell's Kitchen UK could once again return to British television screens in 2027.
