Irish musician Grian Chatten has unveiled a brand-new solo track set to feature in the forthcoming Peaky Blinders film, marking an exciting collaboration between the acclaimed frontman and the hit crime franchise.

The song, titled “Puppet,” will appear on the soundtrack for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, the highly anticipated cinematic continuation of the beloved television series. The film sees Cillian Murphy reprise his Oscar-winning role as Tommy Shelby and is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on March 6 before arriving on Netflix on March 20.

Chatten, best known as the frontman of Fontaines D.C., co-wrote the track with longtime collaborators Antony Genn and Martin Slattery. Speaking on BBC Radio 1 alongside Murphy, the singer shared his enthusiasm about contributing to the franchise’s evolving musical identity.

“I wrote this song with the help of my friends Antony Genn and Martin Slattery for the Peaky Blinders movie, which is out on March 6. I’m very excited about it,” Chatten said.

Reflecting on the creative process, he described immersing himself in the spirit of the Shelby universe. “It was just an overwhelming sense of pure Shelby-ism, really. It was very difficult to not shave my head in the Peaky style as well, so I was just resisting that the whole time,” he joked. “There’s a lot of tension and the characters in the Peaky Blinders canon are full of tension, and there’s two sides in all of this. No one is ever straightforward, so I was trying to choose that balance in the song.”

Murphy, who recently earned Academy Award acclaim for his performance in Oppenheimer, praised the addition of Chatten and his collaborators to the franchise’s storied soundtrack legacy.

“We’re just thrilled that somebody like Grian is now part of the Peaky sonic landscape,” Murphy said. “We’ve had such a storied and amazing lineup of artists over the years contributing to the soundtrack of the show. To have Grian and Ant and Martin make the soundtrack was amazing for us.”

The actor, a longtime admirer of Fontaines D.C., added that the band’s sound naturally complements the drama’s atmosphere. “The Fontaines music seems to work. It has that outlaw and dangerous quality… it just clicked for us.”

With “Puppet” now released, anticipation is building for The Immortal Man, as fans prepare to see — and hear — the next chapter in the Peaky Blinders saga.
