Gardaí are investigating after two men were seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Cabra, Dublin last night.

The attack happened outside a pub on Quarry Road after a fight broke out among mourners following the funeral of Brandon Ledwidge, the 23-year-old was shot dead in Finglas earlier this month.

The public order unit was called to the scene of the violent melee.

One man reportedly suffered slash injuries while another man suffered serious head injuries.

Gardaí have recovered a wheel brace that was used in the assault.

The case is being investigated by gardaí from Mountjoy. As yet, no arrests have been made.

“It was a row among people that had been at the funeral rather than some other entity attacking them,” a senior garda source said this morning.

One of the victims of yesterdays attack was Derek Boyd.

Boyd was jailed last December for two years for killing his sister when an illegal firearm in his possession was accidentally discharged.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of assault that occurred in the Dublin 7 area this evening Wednesday 29th November, 2023 at approximately 8pm.

“Two males are currently receiving medical attention at the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.

“Investigations are ongoing. No further information at this time.”

Brandon Ledwidge was gunned down at his front door on Barry Road in Finglas on Saturday 18th November.

It is believed his death was gang related.
