A 37 year old father of 2 has gone missing in Marbella.
The man, who is the brother of a well known Irish sports star moved to Spain a few years ago during the Hutch-Kinahan feud for safety reasons.
Gardaí have been working in association with the Spanish authorities in an attempt to find him.
Earlier this week a murder in Barcelona, increased concerns for the Dubliners safety, many speculating that he may be the victim.
The victim was shot in the head on Carrer de Balmes in Barcelona on Wednesday morning.
Gardaí, however, believe it is unlikely that this is unlikely as Barcelona is over 1,000km away from Marbella where the man went missing, and they believe the man who was murdered is not Irish.
A spokesperson for the Catalonia police has said that due to the nature of the ongoing investigation they will not be disclosing information in relation to the murder.
The Spanish police force have said they will continue to work alongside the Garda Síochána to search for the missing man.
