Irish experimental rock band Just Mustard are set to open for The Cure on several dates of the band’s 2026 UK and Ireland tour — including shows in Dublin’s Marlay Park, Belfast’s Belsonic, and Edinburgh Summer Sessions. It’s a huge milestone for the Dundalk five-piece, known for their moody, atmospheric blend of shoegaze, trip-hop, and noise rock.
Just Mustard are from Dundalk in County Louth. The line-up is Katie Ball on vocals, guitarists David Noonan and Mete Kalyoncuoglu, Rob Clarke on bass, and Shane Maguire on drums. They formed in 2015, and early on they caught attention with their debut album Wednesday in 2018, which earned them a Choice Music Prize nomination in 2019. Their second album, Heart Under (2022), expanded the sonic palette: haunting noise, trip-hop, shoegaze, atmospheric electronics. Live, they’ve built a reputation for powerful, immersive performances where Katie Ball’s vocals often feel like they float through—and sometimes above—walls of sound.
They’ve already opened for The Cure before: one of their earlier big Irish moments was supporting The Cure at Malahide Castle in 2019, alongside Ride and The Twilight Sad. That gig helped introduce them to fans of alternative music who may not normally catch experimental or noise-rock bands.
The upcoming 2026 tour sees Just Mustard joining The Cure in Dublin (Marlay Park on 26 June), Belfast (Belsonic on 28 June) and Edinburgh (Summer Sessions on 23 August). These are outdoor stadium/park shows, meaning massive audiences and high visibility. The Cure are also bringing other acts like The Twilight Sad and Stella & The Dreaming on those bills. The 2026 tour is part of The Cure’s UK & Ireland summer run, which comes after their album Songs of A Lost World and related live projects. The shows are expected to be huge both for fans and for support acts—Just Mustard being among the most exciting of these.
Coinciding with this, Just Mustard have announced their third studio album, We Were Just Here, to be released in October 2025. From what’s been made public, this record will feature tracks like “Endless Deathless,” described by vocalist Katie Ball as “an existential love song,” written imagining herself on a dance floor. The band say the new album takes them in a somewhat warmer, more anthemic direction—still retaining their experimental edge, but aiming for emotional breadth. Mixing was done by David Wrench, who has worked with big names in the alt/experimental scene, adding extra depth and texture to their sound.
For Irish fans, this marks a chance to see Just Mustard in full bloom: not just as a support act, but as a band stepping into headline status. They have their own headline show at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 1 May 2026, where they’ll be playing songs from We Were Just Here as well as earlier material. It’ll be their biggest headline gig to date.
