The pair reunite on screen in the new film 'Anaconda' which is set to be released on the 26th of December. The film follows two friends who have dreamed of remaking their favourite film 'Anaconda', when they finally go for it, life starts to imitate art.
In a recent interview with RTE, Rudd shared a story of his audition that was inspired by Danny Devito, "I heard a story that Danny DeVito got the role in Taxi because he went into the room as Louie De Palma, jumped on a table, threw the script down, and said, 'Who wrote this?!' He was already acting the part. When I was starting out, I thought, 'That's how you do it!" he said.
"So I went into an audition for a tough-guy role and was very rude to the casting director, I took out a cigarette - it wasn't lit - threw it on her carpet and stubbed it out. As I left, I thought, 'I'm not going to get that part!' It was terrible. I called my agent as I was leaving, and she picked up and immediately said, 'What did you do?' The casting director had already called her and said, 'Get this psycho away from me!' That one definitely backfired on me," he continued.
Black then explained one of his audition mishaps, he said: "I remember auditioning for a Civil War drama, which was a big departure for me because I was doing mostly clowny kind of things," he said. "When I got there, I thought I was auditioning for the role of a general… a general meeting! I didn't realise it was just a general meeting. And I remember thinking, 'I don't think I'm old enough to play a general convincingly...'"
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Rudd explained how excited he was to work with Black as he described him as a "hero of mine."
“Every once in a while something will happen where I'm afforded the opportunity to get to work with a hero of mine,” Rudd said turning to Black “it happened on this one in the form of this old hunk of love.”
He explained that it was the first time he had seen Black in action. "People are in awe, rightfully so, of him. And the greatest thing about all of that was, no matter who it was at whatever age — especially kids. Jack is such a good dude, that to see him interact with every single person was astounding," he continued.
