Fogarty spoke to the Hollywood Reporter on June 11th at the 55th annual Songwriters Hall of Fame. He revealed that a biopic about his life is in the works and that he wants Chalamet to portray him.
“I’m really excited about it. That’s such an honour, to get a movie made about you. I’m thrilled and happy that this is finally going to come out. I think they’re working on it. That’s about all I can say," he said.
When Fogarty was asked who he wanted to play him he said: "Whoever that Bob Dylan guy was. That would be great."
Chalamet played Bob Dylan in the recent biopic charting the 'Blowin' In The Wind' singer's life. The actor earned a BAFTA nod and eight Oscar nominations for his role in the biopic.
The Bob Dylan biopic saw Chalamet really commit to the role as he learned how to play guitar and perform Dylan's beloved songs.
In an interview with NME shortly after the release of the Dylan's bipoic, Chalamet said: “I had the time to put the 10,000 hours in, which in a three-month, four-month period you really can’t… There wasn’t a deadline on it. I wasn’t learning for anyone else. I was learning for myself.”
Fogarty kept the details of his biopic close to his chest, although he did say to the Hollywood reporter that he would be content with whoever was cast to play him. “Years ago, probably in the middle of all the dark times, I would tell people, ‘Someday they’re going to make a movie about me, but I’ll be too old to play myself, “It’s kind of like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz singing about someday. Whoever they find that makes it work, I’ll be happy with,” Fogarty said.
