A man, aged in his 50s has been arrested by gardai in connection with a fatal hit and run in Dublin.
The incident happened on the Swords Road at the Collins Avenue Junction at roughly 12.20am in the early hours of Friday morning. 21-year-old Gerard Whyte from Ballymun died in the collision.
The man that gardai arrested yesterday evening (Friday) is currently being held under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Ballymun Garda Station.
A HGV articulated tractor unit which gardai suspected was involved in the hit and run has also been recovered. Gardaí have confirmed that a family liaison officer has been appointed.
