A garda investigation is ongoing after a man was arrested in the wake of the assault of a woman in the city centre overnight
The victim was reportedly seriously assaulted in the early hours of this morning. The incident took place at an apartment on Parnell Street at around 2:45am this morning.
It’s reported that a man in his 30’s assaulted the woman who is also in her 30’s.
The man who left the apartment then apparently carried out an act of criminal damage on a car in the area.
He fled the scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter by Gardaí on Parnell Street and brought to Mountjoy Garda Station where he’s currently detained.
The woman was taken to the Mater hospital with serious injuries.
