A man in his 70s has died after being struck by a Luas tram in Dublin city centre.
The fatal incident happened on Marlborough Street at approximately 7pm on Monday, June 15 in the evening. Emergency services attended the scene, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead there. No other injuries were reported.
Following the incident, Luas services on the Green Line were disrupted, with trams unable to operate between St Stephen’s Green and Dominick.
In a statement, a Luas spokesperson said: “Green Line services are currently not operating between St Stephen’s Green and Dominick. Dublin Bus will accept all valid tickets for the duration of this disruption.”

Gardaí confirmed that the local coroner has been informed and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination.
The scene remains under examination and traffic diversions have been put in place in the area while investigations continue.
Investigating Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward. They are also asking any road users or pedestrians who were in the vicinity of Marlborough Street at the time of the collision and may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, to make it available to investigators.
