Dublin Airport will welcome around 340,000 passengers over the coming St. Brigid’s Day bank holiday weekend.

Passenger numbers expected over the bank holiday weekend will be bolstered by supporters heading to Paris for the Six Nations rugby match between France and Ireland on Friday night.

Those departing from Dublin Airport over the coming days are reminded to arrive at their terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and 3 hours prior to a long-haul flight.

Over the four days between Friday 2nd February and Monday 5th February, around 172,000 people will fly out of Dublin Airport, with around 168,000 due to arrive.

Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager, Dublin Airport Authority said: “The busy long weekend will kick off early, with several thousand Irish rugby fans heading over to Paris for the opening Six Nations match on Friday night.

“Many travellers will also avail of the Bank Holiday weekend to get away for some winter sun, a city break or to meet up with friends and loved ones overseas.

“We’re expecting an average of 85,000 passengers per day over the weekend. To ensure a smooth journey through the airport, we would strongly advise passengers to prepare for security in advance.

“A key time-saver for passengers at this time of year is to plan your airport outfit, keeping in mind that items such as hoodies and also ankle boots will need to be removed when going through security.”

With large numbers travelling through Dublin Airport this weekend, passengers are advised to consider in advance how they will get to and from Dublin Airport with DAA encouraging them to consider travelling to the airport by bus if possible.

Demand for car parking is high, so passengers driving to the airport should book their car parking as far in advance of travel as possible to ensure best rates and availability for their preferred dates.

Dublin Airport is also offering discounts of up to 20% on its lounges, which can be booked directly on the airport’s website.
