Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange rain warning for County Dublin, with forecasters warning of significant rainfall, possible flooding, and hazardous travel conditions from Friday into Saturday morning.

The alert — also covering Wexford and Wicklow — warns of “significant rainfall accumulations, especially on high ground and exposed areas,” with flooding possible across parts of the capital and surrounding counties. Commuters are being advised to plan ahead, as travel disruption and poor visibility are likely during peak times.

A Status Yellow rain warning remains in effect for a wider area, including Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Wexford, and Wicklow, while the south and southwest — covering Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford — are also under Yellow-level alerts due to persistent heavy rain falling on already saturated ground.

Met Éireann has additionally issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Dublin, Louth, Wexford, and Wicklow, with strong and gusty northeasterly winds expected to make conditions more difficult for motorists, particularly along exposed routes and coastal areas.

For those in Dublin city and county, surface flooding on roads and dangerous driving conditions are possible, especially near rivers and low-lying areas. Flood-prone zones along the River Dodder and Tolka could experience elevated water levels if heavy rain persists overnight.

Residents are urged to check local updates, avoid walking or driving through floodwater, and secure outdoor items in advance of the worsening conditions. Authorities have also asked the public to keep drains clear and to take extra care during commutes on Friday and Saturday.

With more than 13 counties under weather alerts and rainfall totals expected to climb through Friday night, flooding and travel disruption remain likely, particularly in Dublin, Wicklow, and Wexford under the Orange warning.

Disclaimer: Weather conditions evolve very quickly. Readers are advised to follow Met Éireann updates closely.
