Nick Reiner faces two counts of first degree murder over the killing of Rob and Michele Reiner. Nick was arrested on the 14th of December after the bodies of his mother and father were discovered at their home in the upmarket Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Reiner wore a brown jail jumpsuit for the arraignment. The 32 year old could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted, according to the BBC. Prosecutors allege that he fatally stabbed his mother and father inside a bedroom of their home before fleeing.
It has been reported by the BBC that Reiner's arraignment was originally set for January, however it was postponed due to his lawyer Alan Jackson who withdrew from the case for "reasons he said were beyond his and his clients control."
It has been reported that Reiner will appear in court 29th of April and has not been granted bail and will remain in jail. According to RTE, a plea of "not guilty" is common at this stage, regardless of what the defense does at a later stage.
