Noel Gallagher has said that he is currently working "in the studio".
The former Oasis guitarist made these comments in a recent interview. Although it remains to be seen whether he meant that he is working on new Oasis music or solo material with the High Flying Birds.
“I’m in the studio now, but I better put something out,” Gallagher told talkSport. “I’ve been shamed".
Noel Gallagher was speaking about being awarded the Songwriter Of The Year award at this month's BRIT Awards. Previous recipients of this award include Ed Sheeran (2022), Kid Harpoon (2023), RAYE (2024), and Charli xcx (2025). More on this here.
Speaking about how he found out that he had been given this awards, Gallagher added: “If I’m being honest right, I just think they were desperate to get somebody from Oasis up there because it’s from Manchester… that’s what I think".
The ceremony will take place at Manchester's Co-op Live on February 28.
“Our kid [Liam] was like, ‘I’m not going’,” Gallagher explained. “I was like, ‘Well I’ll have to go then, I suppose’.
“But no, a call came through and I was like ‘What? How can that be?’ But as it’s all based on record sales, we did sell the most records. So you know, like I say, if anybody’s got a problem with it, I’ll be there. I’ll be on the red carpet".
The decision to award Gallagher with this accolade has caused backlash, considering that the songwriter has not written a song in a year.
“I haven’t written a song for two years,” he said. “I’m not sure how I’ve got away with that one, but I’ll take it".
Gallagher explained: “I mean, we sold a million records last year. Didn’t even get off the couch, and I’m not sure there’s a songwriter that can match that".
News of this comes as Noel's brother Liam was lined up for the second series of Celebrity Traitors, having already revealed that the BBC bosses had approached him about taking part on the show. More on this story from Nova here.
