Oasis' most memorable lyrics have been revealed.
According to research carried out by car hire company, SIXT, the honour goes to the words, 'Don't look back in anger, I heard you say', from the band's hit which arrived in 1996. Another lyric from the track, “So, Sally can wait, she knows it’s too late as we’re walking on by”, is ranked in third place.
Second in the list was Wonderwall's words: “I said maybe, you’re gonna be the one that saves me”, with lyrics from Live Forever and Stand By Me completing the top five.
This was part of a competition run by SIXT, who were celebrating the Supersonic lyric: "Can I ride with you in your BMW?". The lucky winner would win a premium BMW rental over the weekend of August 1-3, which will also see Oasis perform three shows at Wembley.
SIXT also confirmed that they would hand out free bucket hats to anyone named Liam or Noel who rent from their branches in London, Wembley. Heathrow or Edinburgh.
This research also looked into the emotional connection that fans feel when hearing Oasis songs, with 44% saying that emotional impact is what makes a lyric stand out, with 35 % referring to clever word play, while 13% even credited one of the group's tracks for helping them reconnect with someone.
“The level of excitement around the band’s reunion is rarely seen, so this is our own tribute, inspired by the lyrics we love. We’re thrilled to celebrate their legacy by giving fans the chance to live out a bit of that rock and roll magic with a ride in one of SIXT’s premium BMWs", Andrew Smith, Managing Director for SIXT UK, said. “We’ve seen a real surge in demand for premium vehicles, especially in cities along the tour route, and it’s clear fans are keen to travel in true rock and roll style".
