These files have been released to the public due to a new directive from President Donald Trump in February. The directive states that federal agencies should identify, declassify and release files related to UFO, or unidentified flying objects, to the public. The move Trump says is 'based on tremendous interest' from the public. He also said that people had an appetite for knowledge.

This was followed by a statement from Nasa Administrator Jared Issacmann, who said "The odds we will find something to suggest we are not alone are pretty high,". The Pentagon have concluded that it is up to the public to make up their own minds about the information in the files.
