A unique stretch of coastal land in south Dublin, complete with direct sea access and a secluded beach, is set to go under the hammer later this month.
Two adjoining plots at Maretimo Headland in Blackrock are being offered for sale through auctioneer BidX1 on behalf of a private client. Together, the sites cover approximately 0.52 hectares (1.3 acres) and account for around 90 per cent of the prominent headland located between Blackrock and Monkstown villages.
The properties offer an unusual level of privacy along one of Dublin Bay’s most popular swimming and recreational areas. Features include direct access to the sea, a secluded cove, the remains of a former harbour and bathing house, and private granite steps leading into the water.
The land is being offered in two separate lots but can also be purchased as a single holding for a combined guide price of €525,000.
Plot 1, extending to approximately 0.16 hectares (0.4 acres), includes the coastal access point and historic harbour remnants. Plot 2, the larger parcel, measures around 0.36 hectares (0.9 acres) and carries a guide price of €275,000.
Both sites are accessed through gated entrances located at either end of Maretimo Gardens East and are being sold with vacant possession.
According to BidX1, the properties present a range of potential opportunities, subject to the necessary planning permissions. Possible future uses could include leisure, wellness, health, or rejuvenation-related developments.
“This is an unrivalled once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” the auctioneer said in marketing materials accompanying the sale.
BidX1 representative Richard Hoey said the offering has already generated considerable interest among prospective buyers.
“We have seen significant interest from parties exploring both commercial opportunities and private ownership,” he said.
The popularity of sea-based wellness ventures, including outdoor saunas and cold-water swimming facilities, has also prompted interest from potential investors looking to develop the site.
The sale follows growing demand for coastal properties with recreational and tourism potential. Last year, BidX1 oversaw the sale of a 21-acre site overlooking Magheramore Beach in County Wicklow. Although the winning bidder subsequently withdrew from the transaction, the property was later acquired by Wicklow County Council.
The auction for the Maretimo Headland sites is scheduled to take place on June 25.
