Richard Ayoade was reportedly involved in a serious road traffic collision in south-east London over the weekend.
The incident is said to have taken place in East Dulwich on Saturday and involved multiple vehicles as well as two pedestrians.
According to reports, a Renault struck a woman before colliding with a Mercedes SUV being driven by the comedian, actor and presenter. The vehicle is then said to have hit a second woman.
The incident prompted a major emergency response, with police officers and paramedics attending the scene. Reports claim Ayoade was seen exiting his vehicle and speaking with police following the collision.
The two pedestrians who were struck were taken to hospital for treatment.
In a statement, the London Ambulance Service said: “We treated two women at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. However, officers said that none of those injured suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries.
A witness described the dramatic scene, claiming: “The Renault came speeding along the road and hit a woman — she ended up on the other side of the roundabout. Then the Renault hit Richard Ayoade’s car.”
They continued: “It smashed straight into the side of his vehicle and then managed to hit another woman. We heard one of the pedestrians who was hit screaming and crying.”
The vehicles involved were later removed from the scene, while investigators continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Ayoade, best known for his roles in The IT Crowd and as a presenter on The Crystal Maze, has not publicly commented on the incident.
