‘Saturday Night Live UK’ Debut Cast Unveiled

The cast for Saturday Night Live UK has been revealed.

The late-night comedy sketch show has been going strong in the US for 51 years and is now making it's way to the UK.

The cast includes Hammed Animashaun, from East London who is best known for his role in Black Ops. Ayoade Bamgboye, from Lagos and London who is known for her show Swings and Roundabouts at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Larry Dean, a stand up comedian from Glasgow. Celeste Dring from Wolverhampton who is well know from for BBC comedies Lazy Susan and This Country. George Fouracres, another Wolverhampton native who is known for his role in the Netlfix film 'Steve' where is starred alongside the iconic Cillian Murphy. Ania Magliano from Buckinghamshire who has appeared on Taskmaster and Live At The Apollo. Al Nash, hailing from Buckinghamshire who has appeared on Michael McIntyre's Big Show. Jack Shep, Bedfordshire born comedian who has appeared on Channel 4's Big Boys. Emma Sidi, known from the BBC's Starstruck, who was born in the US but raised in the UK, and Paddy Young from Scarborough who is well known for his appearances in Channel 4 series Everyone Else Burns and Mitchell & Webb Are Not Helping.

SNL creator, Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer. It has been stated that SNL UK will follow the same live format as it's US counterpart aswell as weekly guest stars.

Lead producer on Saturday Night Live UK, James Longman said: “The UK is absolutely packed with incredible comedy talent right now and this cast represents the freshest voices we have, they’re bold, exciting and of course, incredibly funny. The chemistry between them is something special and we can’t wait to share this funny group of people with the world.”

According to NME, Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director for Sky unscripted originals, added: “We all need a laugh like never before, so we’re beyond excited to bring Saturday Night Live to the UK, only 50 short years after it first launched in the US."

“The show’s long-standing legacy of discovering and nurturing outstanding comedy talent speaks for itself, and this UK version will build on that legacy with the support of Lorne Michaels, a brilliant local production team, and an exciting new generation of voices. Saturday nights are looking bright!” he continued.

The show is due to debut on Sky Max and streaming service NOW on Saturday March 21.
