“There’s not a set release date or anything as of yet,” drummer Matt Cameron said. Speaking of Soundgarden's new album, the drummer said “there were a couple schools of thought, like, ‘Hey, let’s put out a single.’ I think eventually we decided we want to make sure the whole thing is completed before we start releasing singles. I’m excited for people to hear it.”
Cameron will become a two time inductee as he was first inducted with Pearl Jam in 2017. He announced his departure from Pearl Jam on July 7th and expresses his excitement to be inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame again with Soundgarden. “I haven’t really wrapped my head around it, and it’s not lost upon me that it’s pretty real to get in there two times. I’m feeling great about everything," he said.
Cameron also reflects on his first time being inducted and recalls happy memories of the ceremony in 2017. “Overall it was a pretty amazing time. It wasn’t really too stressful for me other than to make sure the performance was dialed in, because it was a big TV event. But other than that, it was a great evening,” Cameron said.
Cameron has been a member of Soundgarden since 1986 and was a part of all of their original recordings.
“For me, personally, I helped build Soundgarden from the ground up, and I helped create the sound, I think, a little bit more than I did with Pearl Jam, which was definitely more of an established thing that I came into. So in that sense it is a little more meaningful for me as an artist and musician and songwriter to go in with a band that I helped establish itself,” he said.
