With Or With”tout” U2
U2 took to Facebook last night for a live Q & A with fans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree. Fans had the unique opportunity of asking Adam, Bono, Edge and Larry anything about the eleven songs on the band’s fifth studio album and the subsequent tour which saw them playing stadiums for the very first time. It’s no surprise that the topic of ticket touting arose. Fans were left distraught after tickets for the band’s gig in Croke Park this summer were on sale on ticket reselling sites for up to €1000 each, just minutes after they sold out on ticketmaster.
Today Marks The 3Oth Anniversary of The Joshua Tree
The Joshua Tree is the fifth studio album by U2, released on the 9th of March, 1987. It was the album that launched the band into the spotlight with their three massive hit singles 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For', 'Where The Streets have No Name' & 'With or Without You'. Using the textured sonics of The Unforgettable Fire as a basis, U2 expanded those innovations by scaling back the songs to a personal setting and adding a grittier attack for its follow-up, The Joshua Tree. It's a move that returns them to the sweeping, anthemic rock of War, but if War was an exploding political bomb, The Joshua Tree is a journey through its aftermath, trying to find sense and hope in the desperation.

Suit Filed Accussing U2 Of Stealing Song for ‘Achtung Baby’
A lawsuit was filed yesterday in Manhattan federal court, in New York by British singer-songwriter Paul Rose accusing U2 of ‘stealing’ a song for Achtung Baby. According to The New York Post, Rose claims U2 heard his song after he provided a demo tape to recording studio executives at Island records in 1989; the same year U2 signed with Island Records. Rose alleges that the band swiped elements of his song ‘Ne Slappin’ and incorporated them into ‘The Fly’.
