A teenager has been killed following a two-vehicle collision in Co Meath on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash, involving a car and a lorry, occurred at Johnsbrook, Fordstown, at approximately 12:30 pm.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a male in his late teens, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body is expected to be taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan for a post-mortem examination.
The driver of the lorry was treated for injuries at the scene by medical personnel.
Gardaí have closed a section of the N52 between Fordstown and Clonmellon to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene.
Investigating Gardaí at Navan station are appealing for any road users who were traveling along the N52 between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm, particularly those with camera or dash-cam footage to come forward.
Earlier, gardaí issued an appeal for witnesses after an elderly cyclist was left critically injured following a collision with a car in Co Galway.
The incident occurred on the R341 Ballyconneely Road in Clifden at approximately 2:40 pm on Monday. The victim, a man in his 80s, remains in critical condition at University Hospital Galway as officers at Clifden Garda Station carry out their investigation.
