Met Eireann has forecasted that temperatures will rise to 23C this weekend.

Temperatures are expected to rise this weekend, with majority of the good weather to be in the South, expected temperatures are between 18C-23C.

It is anticipated that the north of the country will be a bit cooler with temperatures between 14-17C.

Sunday, we will experience a rise in temperature nationwide, with it ranging betweem 18-23C.

Met Eireann has stated that the good weather is due to high pressure building in Europe. Matthew Martin, meteorologist with Met Éireann said that temperatures in the south of Europe are currently in the low-to-mid 30s.

"Of course, the airmass moving up over Ireland will be heavily modified by the time it reaches our shores and temperature are expected to peak at around 22 or 23C here on Sunday," he said.

However, the good weather is not expected to last long as unsettled conditions are forecast from Tuesday onwards.

Martin added: “There’ll be a few showers on Friday but with pleasant sunny spells also, these showers will become mostly confined to north Ulster on Saturday with sunny spells for many and Sunday is looking dry nationwide with lots of warm sunshine forecast.”
