The Stone Roses have merged with Manchester United to launch a new clothing deal with Adidas.

This collaboration will see the Stone Roses join forces with the football giants, and Adidas in a tribute to the iconic ‘Madchester’ era of the UK city from the 1980s.

It is an era which also tied in with the indie music scene of that period.

This collection will include the Icon Jersey at the heart of it, which is in the traditional red of Man United, with red, white and blue Adidas three stripes on the sleeves, and the Stone Roses in golden lettering inside the collar.

The design also features the words ‘This the One’ on it, along with two lemon slices replacing footballs on each side.  The jersey itself was also crafted by guitarist John Squire.

Stone Roses Collaboration To Honour ‘The famous class of 92’

Announcing this launch, Manchester United shared a major lifestyle range, as part of this merging with The Stone Roses and Adidas.

This range even includes black shorts, black tracksuits, long sleeve t shirt, scarf, as well as the quintessential bucket hat.

The Man United badge, and Stone Roses lemons also feature.

On this deal, Man United’s Chief Commercial Development Officer James Holroyd said that the collection will honour the history of the club and the band.

“This collection recognises our joint histories in a way that connects with both older fans and the new generation of supporters”, Holroyd said.

On this collaboration, Adidas’ Design Director Inigo Turner also said this of the range.

“The Stone Roses’ music is the soundtrack for fans who remember the famous class of ’92. This collection celebrates the beautiful fusion of football and musical culture that both the team and the band represented”, Turner stated.

Marking this collection, an iconic photo shoot took place, featuring the Man United men’s and women’s teams, paying tribute to legendary portraits of The Stone Roses.

A short film called ‘Roses Are Red’ was also shared, featuring Gary Neville, We Brown and Liam Fray. See the collection in full here.
