Two people have died following a workplace incident at an industrial premises in Banagher, Co Offaly, this morning.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 11.40am after the incident was reported.
A man aged in his 50s and a woman in her 20s were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their bodies remain at the premises and the area is being preserved for examination. Post-mortem examinations are due to take place at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore at a later date.
The circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been established.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has confirmed that it is aware of the fatal workplace incident and has launched an investigation.
Gardaí are also continuing to make inquiries as part of the investigation into what happened.
The identities of the two people have not been released.
