Sean Cox’s brother has told Preston Crown Court that he sensed something wasn’t right just moments before his brother was attacked outside Anfield.

Martin Cox has been giving evidence at the trial of Roma fan Filippo Lombardi who’s accused of assaulting his brother before a match last April.

Sean Cox, a father-of-three from Dunboyne, Co. Meath, suffered severe brain injuries when he was knocked unconscious on his way to the stadium.

Another witness told the trial he still remembers the terrible sound when a belt buckle struck the 53-year-old in the back of the head.
