Catherine Connolly is an independent TD for Galway West and former Leas-Cheann Comhairle. She officially launched her campaign in July 2025 and secured the necessary nominations from Oireachtas members. Connolly is backed by Sinn Féin, Labour, the Green Party, and several other left-wing parties. Her platform includes advocating for a United Ireland, climate action, and scrutiny of the presidential salary.
