Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses after a woman, aged in her 30s, died following a serious assault in Dublin earlier this week.

This happened after she sustained serious injuries in Dublin on Monday afternoon last. She was brought to Beaumont Hospital following the assault, before later dying from her injuries, according to reports in RTÉ. The incident took place on Main Street, Belmayne on Monday afternoon.

A post mortem examination has since been carried out, with the results to determine the course of the investigation, according to Gardaí.

A man in his 20s was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the assault, but was released without charge yesterday, with a file to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A Family Liaison Officer continues to support the victim's family.

Gardaí are urging any witnesses to this incident to get in contact with them, particularly anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Belmayne between 3pm and 3.45pm on Monday, and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to them.

Anyone who has information has been asked to contact Coolock Garda Station on (01) 666-4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

The investigation remains ongoing.
