Reports have confirmed that there are nearly 1,400 people, including 800 foreigners, missing across Nepal and Tibet after the catastrophic flash floods.
Authorities stated that a wall of mud and rock collapsed into a Himalayan river sending the flash floods through towns and valleys.
In a post on X, Nepal's police confirmed that 240 bodies had been found in the 24 hours since the floods.
According to RTE, about 100 Indian visitors and 25 Chinese workers have been located by the rescue team in Nepal.
Two Irish nationals and 12 UK citizens are among those that are missing in the Rasuwa region of Nepal.
Tourists from more than two dozen countries are reportedly missing. 178 from India, 65 from the United States, 35 from Australia, 33 from Britain and 25 from Canada are among those missing.
Kumar Adhikari, the manager of Alpine Eco Trek said the Irish nationals were on a nine-day tour to Mount Kailash and were crossing into Tibet from Nepal when they became trapped as the flash floods struck.
"We were hoping that inside it was safe. But later the video came from China’s government which (showed) even Tibet’s side was hit by the flood," Adhikari said via RTE.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it is closely monitoring the situation.
It added that the department, along with the Embassy of Ireland in India, which is responsible for Nepal, will provide consular assistance to affected Irish citizens and their families.
According to RTE, the department noted that, as is the case with all consular matters, it does not comment publicly on individual cases.
