19-Year-Old Cyclist Dies Following Hit-and-Run in Meath

A 19-year-old man has died after a hit-and-run collision involving a van and a bicycle in Co Meath.

The incident happened at Nugentstown, Kells, at approximately 8.05pm yesterday evening.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after the van failed to remain at the location.

His body has been taken to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out. The coroner has been notified.

The road remains closed as Gardaí investigate the circumstances of the collision, with local diversions currently in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are particularly seeking information from anyone who was travelling in the Nugentstown, Kells area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm and may have dashcam, mobile phone or other camera footage that could assist the investigation.
