The National Show Centre in Swords is about to transform into a festive world of creativity, nostalgia and Christmas sparkle as The Convention Before Christmas makes its debut on December 6th and 7th. This brand-new indoor convention promises to be one of Dublin’s biggest family Christmas experiences, blending festive markets with pop-culture, live entertainment and seasonal magic under one roof.
Created for families, fans, creators and festive enthusiasts of all ages, the weekend will combine Christmas attractions, celebrity guest appearances, festive performances and more than 100 market stalls, all while raising funds for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.
Screen actors from Wednesday and Star Wars, the iconic 1980s robot Johnny 5, and a host of Irish authors, illustrators and performers will take part in special appearances. Fans can look forward to Emily Ring, who plays Young Wednesday Addams in Wednesday Season 2, appearing in character for stage segments and photo moments. Also appearing is Dee Tails, the Star Wars creature performer with credits across The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi and Solo.

The venue will be packed with stalls from Dublin traders, independent Irish makers, small businesses and specialist vendors in toys, comics, gaming, manga and collectibles. Children’s authors and illustrators will also be on-site for special festive book signings.
Families can tick off a huge chunk of their Christmas shopping indoors while little ones enjoy live entertainment – including Elf pantos, retro gaming machines, funfair rides and visits from Santa, the Grinch and Christmas Elves. There will also be trading-card stalls, immersive activities and photo opportunities throughout the weekend.
The event is fully wheelchair accessible, offers a calm zone, and features a family-friendly quiet hour each morning for those who prefer a more relaxed shopping experience.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Founder Matt Hodge said, “We’re thrilled to bring this magical event to Dublin at such a special time of year. The Convention Before Christmas is designed to spark joy, creativity, and community festive spirit as we head into the festive season colliding fandom with festivity at Dublin's Biggest Family Christmas Event. Whether you’re attending with family, friends, or as a fan of holiday traditions, there’s something for everyone.”
A full timetable will guide guests through the main events of the weekend, including the Elf Christmas Live show, Wednesday Addams on-stage moments, kids’ and adults’ cosplay competitions, and the Busk for LauraLynn fundraiser.
This is the first year The Convention Before Christmas is partnering directly with LauraLynn as its official charity, supporting the organisation’s appeal to raise up to €70,000.
Guests are encouraged to wear festive attire or cosplay to make the most of the immersive experience. Parking is free on site, with limited accessible spaces available, and the venue is located just minutes from Dublin Airport.
