Jack Osbourne has responded to growing criticism regarding his family's plans to create an AI-inspired "Digital Ozzy".
This comes amid last week's announcement that the Osbourne family have joined forces with HYPERREAL to produce the "digital DNA" of the late Ozzy Osbourne, including image, voice and movements, with some calling the project unnecessary and exploitive.
However, Jack Osbourne has hit back at critics, insisting that it is something that his father would have approved of.
During a recent livestream, Jack Osbourne stated that the technology behind 'Digital Ozzy' is much more sophisticated than just attaching AI to archival footage or voice recordings of Ozzy Osbourne.
“It’s gonna be so tasteful, what we’re doing. It’s not gonna be fucking lame", he said. “This isn’t just, like, hooking up an image of my dad to ChatGPT… This is some high-level technology that we’re gonna be working with, and it’s gonna feel very real".
Jack went on to claim that this idea had also been discussed with Ozzy prior to his death last year.
“I think my dad would be into this ‘cause we actually talked about it before he passed, about, like, doing something like this,” he said. “So, yeah. I know he would be into this".
Speaking about this, HYPPEREAL CEO, Remington Scott insisted that the digital avatar was built entirely using “authenticated, approved source material” supplied directly by Ozzy’s family.
It was also confirmed that the first public versions of this "Digital Ozzy" are to launch across the UK and US later this year, via interactive hologram technology.
In other news, Jack Osbourne said that he had a "big, brilliant actor" in mind to play Ozzy Osbourne in a new biopic in the future.
This biopic has been in development since it was first announced in 2021, will explore the life and career of the late Black Sabbath star Ozzy Osbourne.
'We have full steam ahead. We've been in development at Sony for years now. The script is done, we're just making some final tweaks and hopefully get a director attached pretty soon", Jack recently told Entertainment Tonight.
When asked who he had in mind to play the late singer, Jack said: "We have someone in mind, a really brilliant, big actor and we're very excited if it works out the way we hope".
