The Beatles have announced the release of an expanded special edition of their famous album, Rubber Soul.

The album which was first released in 1995, was key moment in the development of the Fab Four, and included hits like Drive My CarNorwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)Nowhere ManMichelleGirl and In My Life, as they pushed beyond the conventions of pop music and take a new and creative approach to song writing.

The new edition has been freshly mixed by producer Giles Maartin and engineer, Sam Okell, and includes new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes, as well as the original mono mix, original Capitol US Album version, as well as previously unheard recording sessions and home demos.

It will also feature contemporary double A-side single, Tripper / We Can Work It Out.

This will also mark the first time that all 14 new stereo tracks will be reissued together, with fans also have the chance to explore 24 early recording sessions, as well as 20 previously unreleased takes and three previously unreleased home demos.

The album will also be available in 4CD and 5LP Deluxe editions, along with an 88 page hardbound book, with a new introduction written by Paul McCartney, and a forward from the late John Lennon, including reflections on the original album, his own life, as well as addressing the Beatles break up.

It will also be available in the standard 1CD and 1LP editions, 2CD and 2LP Special Editions, and 4CD and 5LP Super Deluxe editions, as well as on  Blu-ray, featuring the new Dolby Atmos mix, high-resolution stereo audio and promotional films for Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out, alongside limited-edition orange vinyl and D2C exclusive Zoetrope vinyl editions.

Speculation over this album first gather pace after a mysterious countdown clock appeared on the band's official website earlier this week, which included the message: "Good things come to those who Wait." More on this from Nova here.
