Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are officially back as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell in the fourth Mummy film, with the Oscar winners recently photographed filming scenes for the long-awaited sequel.

These pictures mark the first time fans have seen Fraser and Weisz back in character together since 2001’s The Mummy Returns.
Fraser was spotted filming in Suffolk, England, where he was seen racing a vintage silver-and-red rocket car marked EPSA for what appears to be a 1957 speed trials sequence.
Meanwhile, Weisz was photographed filming outside London’s British Museum while dressed in vintage clothing.

The reunion comes almost three decades after the original The Mummy was released in 1999.
The film followed Fraser’s adventurer Rick O’Connell and Weisz’s Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan as they travelled to the lost city of Hamunaptra, where they accidentally awakened the cursed high priest Imhotep, played by Arnold Vosloo.

The film became a major box-office success, taking more than $409 million worldwide. Its 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns, performed even better, bringing in more than $443 million globally.
Fraser returned for 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, although Weisz did not appear in the third film due to scheduling conflicts. Maria Bello took over the role of Evelyn.
The third film ended with Rick and Evelyn seemingly retiring from their adventures, but it also left fans with a possible clue about where the story could go next.
The O’Connells are told that mummies have been discovered in Peru, potentially setting up another expedition.
There are currently no official plot details for The Mummy 4, so it is not yet known whether the new film will follow that storyline or take Rick and Evelyn somewhere completely different.

Fraser has been openly enthusiastic about returning to the franchise. During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in May, he teased that the original team would be getting back together.
“Well, we’re gonna get the band back together — the only way to do it, right? So, we’re going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for for the last 20-whatever years,” Fraser said.
He also hinted that the new film will revisit some of the locations associated with the original movies, while joking about getting back into action at the age of 57.
“However, I know that — please wish me luck. I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape,” he said.

Fraser had previously said in 2022 that he would be interested in returning to the franchise, telling GQ, “Absolutely ... that was great fun.”
Weisz has also spoken warmly about her time on the original films. In a 2023 interview with Net-a-Porter, she described The Mummy as beloved to her and praised the cast and the chemistry that came together during the first film.
The returning cast will also include John Hannah, Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O’Connor, alongside newcomers Michael Johnston and Numan Acar.

Behind the camera, The Mummy 4 is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmakers behind Ready or Not, Scream and Scream VI. David Coggeshall, whose previous work includes Prey and The Family Plan, is writing the screenplay.
The new film has been in development for several years, with Fraser and Weisz's return finally bringing the original leads back together for the first time in more than 20 years.
Fans will not have to wait too much longer to see the result, with The Mummy 4 now scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 15, 2027.
The film was originally due for release in May 2028 before being moved forward.
