LISTEN BACK: Radio Nova Shines A Light On Representation And Inclusivity For 'One Day Many Voices'

Radio Nova joined 22 other independent radio stations across the country on Thursday September 24th for One Day, Many Voices.

The special day of broadcasting brought different voices and experiences to the airwaves, giving people from communities across Ireland an opportunity to share their stories.

The national initiative, developed by Learning Waves, focused on diversity, inclusion and making sure a wide range of voices and experiences were heard on independent radio.

Throughout the day, Radio Nova spoke to people from a range of backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to share their experiences and offer different perspectives on life in Ireland today.

VaticanJail

Chilean-born, Dublin-based artist and producer VaticanJail created 'The Glam Sessions' - a space exclusively curated for women, trans, queer and non-binary artists to learn more about music production.

After a few of her hits performed internationally, building a significant fanbase, she is gearing up for the release of her first EP, This Could Have Been A Text, on Oct 1.

VaticanJail's music genre is defined as glamour pop, latin influence.

RIA RUA

Claire is a young queer Irish artist from Westmeath. She's the drummer and main member of her band, Ria Rua, an independent Irish band relying on community support - and thriving!

Ria Rua play alternative rock with a cinematic twist. They're about to embark on their 2nd Ireland and UK Tour. The band's mission is to create safe spaces for all to enjoy music and nightlife.

GNS

GNS is a Malawi-born, Dublin-based producer, writer and singer.

He is inspired by the multifaceted and diverse music of the Black and Irish community, creating a unique sound that blends rap, RnB, acoustic, and even pop!

Steo Wall

Steo Wall is a Dublin-based artist who draws inspiration from his Traveller background to create his very own and unique blend of spoken word and folk music.

The impact of his influences—Bob Marley, Sinead O'Connor, Christy Moore and Tupac—can be heard throughout his debut album, 2018's Where I'm From.

One Day, Many Voices encouraged conversations around identity, culture, accessibility, belonging and inclusion, while also highlighting some of the challenges and barriers faced by people across Ireland.

Radio Nova was proud to take part alongside independent stations around the country in a nationwide celebration of the role radio can play in bringing communities together and giving people the opportunity to be heard.
