The trial of Ticketmaster over alleged misleading practices in the sale of Platinum tickets for Oasis’s 2025 reunion concerts at Croke Park has been delayed after the company said it needs to obtain an expert report.

The case, which is being brought by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), was before Dublin District Court again today, where Judge Anthony Halpin confirmed that the hearing would not take place as originally expected in December.

The four-day trial will now be pushed into the new year, with a new date expected to be set when the case returns before the court for mention on November 9.

Ticketline Unlimited Company, which trades as Ticketmaster, faces two charges under Section 47 of the Consumer Protection Act 2007.

The proceedings relate to tickets sold for Oasis’s reunion concert at Croke Park on August 31, 2025, following the Gallagher brothers’ highly anticipated return to the stage.

The first charge alleges that Ticketmaster engaged in a misleading commercial practice when offering Platinum tickets to consumers. The CCPC claims the tickets were presented in a way that was likely to deceive or mislead customers about their main characteristics and specifications.

Platinum tickets provide access to some of the most sought-after seats or ticket categories at concerts, with prices set by the event organiser.

The second charge alleges that Ticketmaster provided material information about the price of the tickets in a manner that was unclear, unintelligible, ambiguous or supplied at an inappropriate time.

The charges follow an investigation by the CCPC, which subsequently provided disclosure of evidence to the defence as part of the proceedings.

When the case was previously before the court last month, defence counsel indicated that the allegations would be fully contested.

At today’s hearing, Brian Gageby BL, representing Ticketmaster, told the court that an expert report still needed to be obtained.

Ronan Kennedy SC, appearing for the CCPC, said there had already been correspondence between the prosecution and defence regarding the matter.

Judge Halpin described the case as complex and said both sides would need to ensure their witnesses were properly prepared before the trial begins.

The court has previously heard that the defence expects to call approximately 12 witnesses during the hearing.

The legal proceedings centre on the way Platinum tickets were marketed and the information provided to consumers about their pricing at the time of sale.

The Oasis concerts at Croke Park were among the most anticipated live music events in Ireland in 2025, following the band’s announcement that Liam and Noel Gallagher would reunite for a major tour.

The dispute over ticket pricing has formed part of wider scrutiny of dynamic and premium ticket pricing practices, with consumer groups and regulators examining how ticket costs are presented to fans.

However, the allegations against Ticketmaster have not been proven. The company is entitled to contest the charges and the matter will be determined by the court following the trial.

The case will return to Dublin District Court on November 9, when the parties are expected to discuss arrangements for the new hearing date.
