Liam Gallagher has blasted Liverpool, while stating that Oasis helped to put The Beatles "on the map".
The singer has been at loggerheads with supporters of the Anfield club over recent days on social media, after Gallagher's beloved Manchester City were found guilty by the Premier League for 114 out of 115 charges, accusing them of major breaches of financial rules, a ruling which is currently being appealed by the club.
As expected, the Oasis frontman has staunchly defended his club, accusing other teams like Liverpool and Arsenal of being "corrupt".
Last week, Gallagher wrote on X: “All this hatred directed at Man City from other clubs should be directed at Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool".
“They’re the ones who are corrupt and trying to stop other teams from winning things, not Man City. We’re trying to help you all out, we’re like Jesus prepared to die on the cross".

Now, Liam Gallagher has doubled down on his comments, even taking aim at Liverpool and The Beatles in the process.
“All these Scousers giving me and my band shit, Oasis have done more for the city of Liverpool than they will ever do,” he recently tweeted. “Oasis put the Beatles back on the map which they no doubt directly profit from, ungrateful little sods,” he added, before singing off with “MCFC” and his usual signature “LG x”.

Unsurprisingly, these comments were met with some strong criticism online, with many defending the legacy of The Fab Four, insisting that their impact on the music world was bigger than what Gallagher was hinting at.
Some also blasted Gallagher for his "sheer arrogance".
One person wrote: “’Oasis put The Beatles back on the map’? The sheer arrogance! Pretty sure their legacy doesn’t need a boost from the Gallagher brothers", while another added: “’Oasis put The Beatles back on the map’? The sheer arrogance! Pretty sure their legacy doesn’t need a boost from the Gallagher brothers".
Another person claimed that The Spice Girls had a better impact on America than Oasis did.
“Just for the record the Spice Girls cracked America harder than Oasis ever did… Let that sink in before you start putting yourselves in the same [fucking] sentence as The Beatles", they said.
However, some people did defend Gallagher and Oasis.
“Think Liam’s been on the ciders. The Beatles were everything you aren’t: Groundbreaking, respected, original, modest, artistic, political, respectful, cultured, globally revered, creative, experimental, funny and charming,” one person wrote, before adding: “Where as you copied Status Quo. Wind your neck in".
One or two people even thought that Gallagher had a point.
“I think there is some truth to it. Oasis introduced many people to the Beatles just by talking about them", another fan said.

@ParaPaul78 @liamgallagher They did though. Introduced a lot of young ‘uns to The Beatles, myself included. Before Oasis I only knew a couple of the Beatles’ hits like I Wanna Hold Your Hand, etc. After Oasis I started buying Beatles albums ✌🏼

@liamgallagher The Beatles were seen as uncool late 70's and through the 80's. You could argue that their rehabilitation came when the Britpop acts in the mid-1990s openly cited them, and the 1995 Anthology project put the catalogue and the surviving members back in front of a new audience.

At the time of writing, no punishment was decided for Manchester City, who are still appealing the ruling.
Earlier this week, Liam Gallagher said that he also turned down the chance to appear on The Celebrity Traitors, stating that he's "Not a celebrity". More on this report from Nova here.
