Troy Parrott came on as a late second half substitute as Real Betis tightened their grip on third place with a 5-2 victory over Osasuna.
The Spanish club, managed by former Real Madrid and Manchester City boss, Manuel Pelligrini are moving along nicely in La Liga, and this latest win sees them remain in third place in the league at present, with a brace from former Spanish midfielder and Real Madrid Champions League winner, Isco proving crucial.
Betis remain ahead of Spanish giants Real Madrid who are fourth in the table, and also lost to Betis earlier on this season, with Parrott scoring the winning goal, against a side managed by Jose Mourinho, who gave Parrott his debut in professional football during his tenure as Tottenham Hotspur manager. They are also five points behind current leaders and La Liga holders, Barcelona.
While that does remain Parrott's solitary goal in La Liga, the Dubliner did find the net on his Champions League debut, scoring the winner in a 3-2 victory away to French side Lille. More here.
Parrott has also been in fine scoring form for his country, scoring four times in four matches over the International break, including one in a 3-0 victory over Israel in a UEFA Nations League game embroiled in controversy. More on this from Nova here.
