If you’ve been glued to your screen watching Monsters: The Ed Gein Story or Dahmer, or have been known to watch every true crime documentary on serial killers that airs, there’s a new exhibition coming to Dublin you might be interested in.
Exhibition Hub is teaming up with event group Fever to bring Inescapable Darkness: A Serial Killers Exhibition to Dublin where visitors can go on a journey to the darkest corners of the human mind.
The event is described as: ‘Visitors step inside a 90-minute, 20-stop journey that showcases the history, psychology, and cultural impact of serial killers. Dublin is the first stop before the exhibition makes its way to the rest of the world.’
The experience begins by exploring the Investigation Office, where guests follow the behind-the-scenes of criminal profiling, the investigative processes, and the human element that is crucial in solving complex serial killer cases.
They will discover personality patterns and motivational categories of 20 of history’s most notorious criminals, which includes the Killer Clown, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer.
Visitors will be able to see how books, plays, films and TV series have long found inspiration from true crime stories, and will give them the chance to learn the truth behind the fictionalised tales.
Guests will also be able to step into the role of an investigator by using their virtual reality (VR) technology to carry out the investigation from the field office and case files to being face-to-face with the killer.
Speaking on the exhibition, John Zaller, Creative Director at Exhibition Hub, said: ‘We’ve seen immersive experiences reshape how audiences connect with history, science, art, and pop culture.
‘With this world premiere in Dublin, we’re delving into one of today’s most popular phenomenons: true crime, which is a theme deeply rooted in human nature and storytelling throughout history.
‘This new exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in discovering the psychology of serial killers and the investigations that uncovered their crimes.’
The event will be held in Artane in Dublin from the end of November, and will be open Monday, Wednesday-Friday from 10:00am-6:00pm (closed Tuesdays), and weekends from 10:00am-8:00pm.
