Mick Ralphs, famous guitarist who co founded Mott the Hoople and Bad Company, has died aged 81.
The musician's death was confirmed in a press release, which said: "Ralphs gave his final performance with Bad Company on Oct. 29, 2016, at London’s O2 Arena. Just days later, he suffered a debilitating stroke and remained bedridden until his passing".
Having started out in local bands during the 1960s, Mick Ralphs co founded Mott the Hoople in 1969, where he remained until 1973. He contributed to all of the band's albums in some form. He also went on to co found Bad Company, even though he did not always tour with them.
Ralph was previously rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke in 2016, before retiring from touring.
Following the announcement of his death, tributes have been paid to Ralphs.
Bad Company's Paul Rodgers wrote: "Our Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground. He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour".
"Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won't be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven".
In a statement, drummer Simon Kirke added: "He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter and an exceptional guitarist. We will miss him deeply".
Mick Ralphs' death comes just months after Bad Company were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame this year.
