A rare artwork from artist Banksy went up for auction only to self-destruct moments after it was sold for a significant amount of money.
The Art Newspaper reports a copy of Banksy’s famous “Girl with Balloon” painting was auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York City on Friday night.
Almost immediately after the record bid of $1.1 million was declared, an alarm was triggered within the frame and began to shred the painting into pieces.
