Barry Keoghan is sporting a new Ringo Starr style haircut ahead of the release of an upcoming Beatles biopic.
The 32 year old actor will be playing the drummer in the four part biopic directed by Sam Mendes. Paul McCartney will be played by fellow Irish actor Paul Mescal, as well as Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
In an episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk released this week Barry appeared to have much longer hair and fringe swept across his face just like Starr wore it in the sixties.
The episode features an interview with Ed Sheeran where the pair chat about the musician’s obsession with movie props.
Barry even joked that he had some drumsticks with him and if Ed wanted to buy them he could.
Sheeran revealed that he buys a new movie prop every year for his birthday.
His favourites are Rufio’s sword, Robin Williams’ Peter Pan costume from Hook, as well as one of the C3P0s from Star Wars, but wouldn’t reveal how much he spent on it.
Production on the Beatles biopic started last month. The four films will be released in April 2028, with each member of the band getting their own version of telling the story of the legendary band.
Director Mendes has described ‘The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event’ as the ‘first binge-able theatrical experience’.
Keoghan recently told Jimmy Kimmel that he had met The Beatles drummer in person in preparation for the role and was completely in awe of him.
‘I met Ringo the other day. I met him at his house and he played the drums for me. He asked me to play them, but I wasn’t playing the drums for Ringo.
‘It was one of those moments when you’re just in awe and [I] just froze.’
‘I was nervous,’ Barry told Jimmy, ‘He was like, “You can look at me,” and it was just, again, I’m playing Ringo Starr. My job is to observe and take in all kind of mannerisms and, you know, studying [him].’
