Women will now be able to join The Royal Dublin Golf Club. The club, which was founded in 1885, has formally adopted a policy of 'gender equality' into its constitution.
In a statement, the club says the opportunity to apply for membership, when open, is available to all genders.
Royal Dublin is the last golf club in Ireland to vote to accept women members, after Portmarnock Golf Club changed its constitution to end its male-only membership policy earlier this year.
Royal Dublin GC said: "All genders are equally valued within the membership without discrimination and enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all membership categories and the opportunity to apply for membership, when open, is available to all genders."
The Bull Island founded in 1885 has staged six Irish Opens and although it never specifically forbid female membership by rule, the situation existed in practice.
