Brandon Flowers has claimed that we are living in a "post rock world".
The Killers singer has embarked on a career in the world of country music, with his latest solo album, Thrasher. He said in a recent interview with Pollstar magazine that he feels rock music is becoming a thing of the past.
"No. It’s almost dying. We’re living in a post-rock world. I don’t think it’s going to ever die, but we’re past it. You talk about how easy it is - I think it’s too easy to make content and to make music, and there’s just not enough self-reflection going on or enough growth happening before we’re trying to put ourselves out there", Flowers said.
"You’ve got to hone what you’re doing and make sure that it’s good enough, get out there and play, and know what it feels like to have something be great or have something suck instead of just releasing things. That would be one thought about it".
As for his own career, Brandon Flowers teased that a second country album could be on the cards.
"There’s a follow-up record. We made two records in Nashville. We’re putting the feelers out there and doing these shows and seeing how they go. It’s just taking it one day at a time", the singer added. (All quotes according to Pollstar magazine).
Earlier this year, Flowers also announced a major headline tour of the UK, Ireland, and North America.
This tour will include a show at Dublin's 3Arena later this month, following a huge run of UK Shows, including London's Royal Albert Hall this evening. More on this from Nova here.
Earlier this year, The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan offered a theory on the decline in rock music, saying that it may have been purposely pushed out of the mainstream culture in the late 1990s. More on this from Nova here.
