Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson has been placed in a conservatorship, following a ruling by a judge.

An application for this conservatorship was made back in February following the death of Brian’s wife and manager Melinda. The couple were married for 28 years.

The singer has suffered with dementia, and is unable to take care of himself.

Court documents had said that Wilson was unable to “properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter”.

The conservatorship will be run by the US singer’s longtime business manager LeeAnn Hard, and longtime publicist and manager Jean Sievers.

“enjoy all of his family and friends”

When applying for this conservatorship, the Wilson family also released this statement.

“Brian and the children living at home will be taken care of and remain in the home where they are cared for by Gloria Ramos and the wonderful team at the house who have been in place for many years helping take care of the family”, they said.

“Brian will be able to enjoy all of his family and friends, and continue to work on current projects, as well as participate in any activities he chooses”.

In the ruling, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Gus T. May, granted in favour of the petition, ruling that Brian Wilson is living with a “major neurocognitive disorder”.

Following a request from Wilson’s daughters Wendy Wilson Knutson and Carnie Wilson Bonfiglio, an addendum was made to the petition, stating that “all of Brian’s children who wish to be added will be added to the text chain from his nurses providing updates about Brian”.

They also asked that all aforementioned conservators are required to consult with them and their five other siblings “regarding all material healthcare decisions”.

Back in January, Brian Wilson also paid a sweet tribute to his late wife Melinda, describing her as his “saviour”.

“My heart is broken,” he said.

Wilson also added, “Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning. Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost”.
