The producers of Peaky Blinders have officially announced a casting call for extras ahead of filming for an upcoming new series, set to shoot across Birmingham in the coming months.
The production team is searching for people aged 16 to 80 who can commit to filming between March and June. Crucially, 1950s-appropriate haircuts are essential for anyone hoping to take part.
Popular men’s styles from the era include short back and sides, crew cuts, and — toward the end of the decade — quiffs. Applicants must be willing to maintain period-accurate grooming throughout filming.
The casting announcement reads:
“ : BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY BLINDERS!
We are soon to be casting for a new series of Peaky Blinders shooting across Birmingham.
✅ Suitable for people aged 16–80
✅ You must have good availability for filming from March–June.”
The new series follows the conclusion of the main television run and will expand the Peaky Blinders universe after the release of the upcoming feature film.
In a recent interview, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight revealed that Jason Statham was originally his first choice to play the iconic role of Tommy Shelby — before the part ultimately went to Cillian Murphy.
Knight said he met both actors in Los Angeles and initially selected Statham. However, Murphy later sent him a message that changed everything, writing:
“Remember, I’m an actor.”
Knight has since said he is “so happy” with how the series turned out, praising Murphy’s performance as the Shelby family boss, which became one of the defining roles of modern television.
The upcoming Peaky Blinders film, titled The Immortal Man, has now had its runtime officially confirmed. Fans can expect 112 minutes of high-stakes, adrenaline-fuelled drama when the film hits selected cinemas on 6 March this spring.
Set in 1940 during World War II, the film follows Tommy Shelby’s return to Birmingham after a period of self-imposed exile. It is confirmed to be the final chapter of Tommy Shelby’s story, paving the way for the next era of the franchise.
The official synopsis reads:
“With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…”
