Fontaines D.C On Award Win: “It’s About time”

Fontaines D.C are going fron strength to strength having already won Best Rock Band In The World at the Bandlab NME awards earlier this month.

Reacting to this triumph, their frontman Grian Chatten said that it was “about time”.

Fontaines D.C also took a subtle swipe at the British Government, saying that they were going to “party like Number 10 tonight”.

“We’ve never really won an award before, so I don’t know, I’ve never seen people so elated in my whole life”, Chatten added.

“We had to keep telling ourselves we were the best band in the world from the moment we started”, their guitarist Carlos O’Donnell also revealed. “And now that someone else has said it, this might be the beginning of the end”.

At this point, Chatten joked that this was, “the most depressing s*** every time we’re at an awards show”.

The band also praised Robert Smith and CHVRCHES for their performance of ‘Just Like Heaven’ earlier that night. More from this Nova report here.
