Vicky Cornell has lodged a malpractice suit against the Soundgarden singer’s doctor. It’s alleged the doctor over-prescribed drugs that eventually resulted in the rocker’s suicide.

According to Rolling Stone. the lawsuit argues that Dr Robert Koblin, “negligently and repeatedly” prescribed Cornell “dangerous mind-altering controlled substances… which impaired [his] cognition, clouded his judgement and caused him to engage in dangerous impulsive behaviours that he was unable to control, costing him his life.”

The lawsuit asserts that Koblin granted Cornell a prescription of over 940 doses of the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam, aka Ativan. The period covered ranges from September 2015 and his death by suicide in May 2017.

In tandem with that prescription, Koblin was also facilitating the supply to Cornell of Oxycodone. Antimusic reports that the doctor never carried a medical examination of Cornell, undertook any lab studies or assessments.

The suit also maintains that Koblin didn’t warn the singer regarding the chance of possible side effects of the drug Lorazepam, issues associated with the prescription are known to be impaired judgement, deceased impulse control and the higher chance of suicide in individuals prone to addiction.

Vicky Cornells’ suit argues that Koblin was aware that Cornell was an “addiction-prone individual,” owing to the fact that Koblin was referred to Cornell through Cornell’s therapist for substance abuse. The charges are negligence, failure to obtain informed consent and willful misconduct, with Koblin and Robertson Cardiovascular Center named as defendants in the suit.
